Statement of Faith

Scripture

We believe the Old and New Testament Scriptures are the inspired Word of God without error in the original writings. The complete revelation of God’s will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. (2 Tim. 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1: 20-21, Mt. 5: 17-18, Dt. 4:2, Rev. 22: 18-19, Prov.30:6, Hebr. 4:12)

God

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Dt. 6:4, Gen. 1 & 2, Mt. 5:48, 1 Peter 1:2, Hebr. 1:8, Acts 5: 3-4, 2 Cor. 13:14, Mt. 28:19)

Jesus

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Furthermore, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of the Majesty of High, He is now our High Priest and Advocate. (Col. 1: 15-20, 2:9, Jn. 10;10. 38, Mt. 1: 20-23, Luke 1: 30-35, 1 John 2:2, Eph. 1:7, 1 Peter 3:18, 2 Cor. 5:21, 1 Cor. 15: 3-8, Acts 1: 9-11, Heb. 4: 14-16, 1 Tim. 2:5, Heb. 7:25)

Holy Spirit

We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and during this age to convict men of sin and to empower the believer for Godly living and service. (Jn. 15; 26, 16: 7-15, Gal. 5: 16-25)

Man

We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost and that only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.  (Gen. 1:26-27, 1 Cor. 11:7, James 3:9, Rom. 5:12, 3:23, Gen. 3: 1-19, Eph. 2: 1-3, Titus 3: 4-7)

Salvation

We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only grounds for the justification and salvation for all who believe and that only such as receive Jesus Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become the children of God. (1 Peter 1: 18-19, Rom. 3:24, 5: 1, 9, Eph. 2: 8-9, Jn. 1:12, Rom. 10: 9-10, Jn. 3:3, 1 Jn. 5: 10-12)

The Resurrection

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the dead, of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with their Lord; and of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious  punishment. (Mt. 25:34, 41, 46, Jn. 5:28-29, 11:25-26, Rev. 20: 5-6, 11-15)

Christ's Second Coming

We believe in the personal, pre-millennial and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that this “blessed hope” has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. (Mt. 24: 36-51, 1 Thess. 4: 13-18, Tit. 2: 11-14, Acts 1:11)

The Church

We believe that the Church is composed of all such persons, who, through saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ of which He is the Head. (Eph. 2: 11-22, Mt. 16:28, Jn. 17: 20-23, Eph. 4: 1-16, 5: 23-27, Col. 1: 18)

The Ordinances

We believe that water baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper for the believers are the institutions of God to be observed by the local church during this age to express our relationship with Jesus Christ. They are not to be regarded as a means of salvation. (Acts 2: 41, Rom. 6: 3-4, 1 Cor. 11: 17-34)

Satan

We believe Satan is a fallen Angel and was cast out of heaven and his sole purpose is to destroy and deceive the world. Satan will be cast into the Lake of Burning Sulphur in the end. (1 Jn.3:8, 1 Peter 5:8, Eph. 6: 12, Rev. 20:10, Is. 14: 12-17

Baptizing

We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a positional work of Jesus Christ which occurs at the moment of conversion and is a once, forever happening. (1 Corinthians 12:13) At that moment, the Christian receives the complete gift of the Holy Spirit, regeneration, baptism, indwelling, and sealing. This is not to be confused with the continual need for filling of the Holy Spirit as we yield to Him. (Ephesians 5:18 and Galatians 5: 16)

Speaking in Tongues

We believe this was a spiritual gift given by the Holy Spirit for a specific purpose at a specific time. It was primarily given to the early church as a sign gift to proclaim Jesus Christ to foreign speaking Jews and to unbelieving Jews. (1 Corinthians 14: 1-25)

Healing

We believe that God, in His sovereign grace, can and does heal today; however, the spiritual gift of healing, as evidenced in the apostolic church, was a temporary sign gift for authenticating the new era of the church. We believe in prayer for healing, in seeking competent medical attention, and in trusting God’s will and purpose.

Marriage and Sexuality

We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning and that is marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman

We believe that any form of sexual immorality, such as adultery, fornication, homosexuality, bisexual conduct, beastiality, incest, pornography or any attempt to change one’s sex, or disagreement with one’s biological sex, is sinful and offensive to God.

We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of the church as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the church members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by the church in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, should abide by and agree to this Statement of Marriage and Sexuality and conduct themselves accordingly.

We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking his mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with scripture nor the doctrines of the church.

Pastors Duties Regarding Marriage

In the event the Pastor were asked to perform a same sex marriage, he has the right not to accept. There shall be no retaliation in this event by the inquiring party, as it is written in the By-laws of our church that the Pastor is not required to fulfill said request.
